Once a week, every Saturday!

Join us for an immersive 5-week pottery class designed to accommodate those with basic wheel skills and some hand building experience. We will be combining thrown forms with hand-built elements to produce composite pottery pieces. Each session includes individualized instruction in a supportive studio environment.

Class Details:

• Class Fee: Includes unlimited clay during class time and the ability to keep up to 10 finished pieces.

• Safety and Usability: All creations are food, microwave, and dishwasher safe.

• Session Structure:

  • Class 1: Introduction to the studio. Examining examples/photos of finished composite pieces. Students will throw several clay pieces specifically for use in their composite work. These pieces/elements will have a week to set up so that they can be easily handled the following week. Optional creation of textural stamps for personalization of clay work.

  • Class 2: Review of how to use the slab roller for making the second part of their composite pieces. Examination of the thrown elements from the previous week, discussing and demonstrating how to combine and connect last week's thrown pieces with today’s new slab elements. 

  • Class 3: Continuation of working with thrown and slab components to create final works.

  • Class 4: Finishing all wet work.

  • Class 5: Glazing techniques and completion of projects.

• Additional Visit: One visit required post-class for picking up finished work.

• Age Requirement: Participants must be at least 16 years old. Participants aged 13-15 may attend if accompanied by an adult.

Policies:

• Cancellation: Full refund if canceled 15 days before the first class. 50% refund if canceled 10 days prior. No refunds after this period, subject to a 5% service fee.

• Make-Up Sessions: Quick make-up sessions available in 30-minute increments before or after pre-scheduled ongoing classes.

Preparation Tips:

• Participants with long nails are advised to trim them before the course.

• Wear clothes suitable for getting dirty.

Membership Option:

• Graduates are eligible for studio membership with a first-month discount of 15%. Clay available for purchase at studio prices.
