Unplug, get your hands dirty, and discover the art of hand-building! This beginner-friendly workshop introduces you to fundamental clay techniques—pinching, coiling, and slab building—without needing a pottery wheel.
What You'll Learn & Create:
Pinch Pots: Master basic shaping to create small bowls or planters.
Coil Construction: Layer clay ropes to build unique mugs, vases, or abstract forms.
Slab Building: Roll and combine flat pieces of clay to form sturdy, geometric pieces.
Surface Decoration: Add texture using stamps, carving tools, and natural materials.
What to Bring:
Wear comfortable clothes you don't mind getting dusty.
Trim long fingernails for easier clay shaping.
All clay, tools, and firing services are fully provided.
No prior clay experience required! By the end of class, you’ll have handcrafted unique pieces ready for glazing and firing. Come relax, meet fellow beginners, and bring your ideas to life in clay.
The class fee includes unlimited use of clay during class time and the ability to keep up to 10 finished pieces.
Everything you make will be food, microwave, and dishwasher-safe.
*Please note 1 more visit will be required after the end of class to pick up your work.
Age Requirement: Participants must be at least 16 years old.
Cancellation Policy: Full refund if canceled 15 days before class. 50% refund if cancellation is 10 days prior to the first class. No Refund after this 10-day period. Full refunds are subject to a 5% service fee.
Make-Up Policy: Quick make-up sessions are possible in a 30-minute increment before and or after a pre-scheduled ongoing class.
*Please note individuals with long nails might find it difficult to use the potter's wheel. We highly advise trimming your nails prior to the course!
*If possible, please bring an apron and or towel to keep yourself clean, but there is always a chance you can get a little dirty. Clay is a non staining material that washes out with ease.
Practice, practice! Studio membership is available to students who have completed a 5 week class. Graduates are eligible for studio membership with a first-month discount of 15%. Clay available for purchase at studio prices. Please email for details. Dongzhumanager@gmail.com.
